Join the high miles club in 2019 with #ride5000miles
When MCN started the #ride5000miles campaign back in July 2017, we had no idea it would become so popular. It’s gone from nothing to more than 8000 members (on the Facebook group) in just 18 months.

Want to know which gloves work best in freezing conditions? Or which is the best Alpine route? Or what bike to buy to make the most of Scotland’s epic twists and turns? Head to the #ride500miles Facebook page and post your question. You’ll be amazed how quickly you get useful advice from this amazing community.
And because it’s positively promoting biking, we have great partners on board, too. They’ll be giving away superb products and providing special offers to the R5K community during the year. So don’t miss out, join the group now.
MCN will also be ramping up the action for 2019 with even more amazing routes and places to ride as well as special supplements. There’ll be posts across social media to highlight amazing tales from bikers who have been inspired to ride that bit further than they normally would.
#ride5000miles After starting in February my aim was to complete in 2018. Today I achieved 5,000 miles including a couple of tours of Scotland. A nice run out to Stanhope in Weardale today did it. (My bike is the one on the left in the photo )……..Result!!!! pic.twitter.com/DItlVXiTJF

We are also planning more R5K get-togethers in 2019. Last year saw the first ever R5K meet- up at the H Café in Wallingford in September. Despite slightly dodgy weather the response was phenomenal with hundreds of riders turning up for prizes, tales of derring do and a sausage bap or two.
John Jess even rode all the way from Barcelona on his Honda CBR500R to meet fellow R5K members. He said at the time: “I left Spain at 4.30pm the day before and rode through the night to get here. But it was okay as the thunder through the Pyrenees kept me awake!”
We hope to run more R5K meets, so keep an eye on MCN and our R5K Facebook page. There’s a weekly R5K report, loads online and on social media; all you have to do is sign up!
How to get involved
Becoming an R5k member in 2019 couldn’t be simpler. Just ride your bike and tell people about it. Ok, there’s a little more to it than that, but not much.
Make a note of your Mileage
Your target is simple; ride 5000 miles in the next 12 months of biking. The idea is just to ride more, embrace the mileage and discover new experiences. So, make a note of your odometer’s figure at the start.
Take a picture of it, write it down or even put a sticker with the figure on your bike as a reminder. On modern machines with two trip meters, reset your second trip.
Ride to some great places
Sounds obvious, but that’s all you need to do. This isn’t about jacking in work and heading around the world. It’s about riding to work more, going further at weekends or even touring with your partner. This is about making your life better through riding a bike.
Tell the world about it
Sign up to our #ride5000miles Facebook group and join a club of bikers with a common aim; to ride more and get more out of motorcycling. It’s a positive community with people who want to have fun on two wheels.
It’s there for you to post regular updates and share how you’re totting up the miles. The group is also a friendly, helpful bunch that’s satisfyingly free of idiots.
Top offers and prizes
It’s not just MCN that thinks #ride5000miles is brilliant. Metzeler, Britanny Ferries, TomTom, SHARK and Kappa are all official sponsors of the brilliant scheme and will provide prizes and special offers to R5K members throughout 2019.
