Suzuki unveil A2-friendly GSX-S950 middleweight

Suzuki have unveiled an A2-friendly version of their GSX-S model called the GSX-S950. The bike is based on the brand-new GSX-S1000 but is tuned for around 94bhp meaning it can be restricted to 47bhp for A2 riders.

Despite the 950 in the name, the engine is the same 999cc lump used in the full-fat bike but with a drop in peak power and torque. Suzuki say the retuned engine will also generate almost 68lb.ft of torque for plenty of punch in the mid-range.

You also get this red, white and black paintjob that isn’t available for the GSX-S1000. The new 950 also comes in Suzuki blue or all black.

The price hasn’t yet been announced but with 43mm KYB front forks and Tokico front brakes, it should be a chunk cheaper than the £10,999 GSX-S1000 when it arrives in August. It will be a direct rival for Honda’s CB650R, which costs £7299 so that’s the benchmark to aim for.
