Husqvarna boost Norden 901 practicality with new Expedition version

Husqvarna have unveiled a new Expedition version of their Norden 901 adventure bike fitted with a selection of upgrades to make it more practical and comfortable over distance.

The Norden 901 Expedition gets upgraded suspension, pre-fitted luggage, a taller screen, and a centrestand fitted as standard.

The Husqvarna Norden 901 was first unveiled all the way back in 2019 as a retro-infused adventurer based on the KTM 890 Adventure. But it would take until 2022 before we actually got our hands on one.

We liked its all-round capability and its relaxed approach to adventuring when compared to the more serious KTMs. Now this new and updated version aims to up the ante with more practicality and comfort.

Gone is the standard version’s WP APEX suspension in favour of fully adjustable WP EXPLOR units with 240mm travel both front and rear – up from 220mm front and 215mm rear on the standard model. This is good news if you like to take your adventure bike off-road, as we found bottoming out the standard Norden easy to do on test.

As well as the new taller touring windscreen to boost comfort and practicality over distance, Norden Expedition riders are treated to heated grips and seat as standard.

The soft luggage set, which gives up to 36-litres of storage, fits onto subtle fixing points on the bike so it looks good with or without the bags fitted. And sticking with the looks, there’s a new paint job that’s a little more attention grabbing than the grey on grey of the standard machine.

Power and torque from the KTM-derived 889cc parallel-twin engine remains the same at 103bhp and 74lb.ft and you still get the four riding modes (Street, Rain, Offroad, Explorer) and switchable ABS for exploring the dirt.

The Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition is available now (March 2023) with prices starting from £13,599 – £1000 more than the standard model.
