MT with promise: CFMoto’s 800 adventurer gets Moto3 makeover

CFMoto have given their 800MT a sporty makeover to create the 800MT Sport R. Using knowhow gleaned from their Moto3 racing team, the Chinese firm have given the bike uprated suspension and brakes and a pair of Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres fitted to 17in rims both front and rear.

The standard MT Sport’s J.Juan brakes are swapped out for Brembo units complete with braided steel lines.

The forks look to be the same KYB kit fitted to the standard bike but the shock gets an Öhlins replacement.

Gone too is the standard MT’s exhaust in favour of an SC Project pipe that should help to shave a few of its 231 kilos.

Now the bike is lighter, better suspended and easier to stop, that new 17in front wheel should mean sharper handling – something ably demonstrated on track by CFMoto’s Moto3 riders in the promo material.

There’s no word yet on whether the bike will be sold and what the price or availability will be, but the model photographed has retained its lights and numberplate hanger so fingers crossed. Hopefully a road going version would retain the trick race rep paintjob too.
