First Impressions - Yamaha xs650

For all of us there seems to be a golden era in our youth when our pay packets were bigger than our debts. A period when the demands on our time were pretty much limited to the hours per day it took to earn a wage. Our days off belonged to us. If you were like me they were spent on a motorcycle. Every Saturday morning, rain hail or shine I’d meet up with a mate. We’d take a brief look at the sky...

Sporty days.

Twenty one years ago Harley Davidson re introduced the 883 ‘Sporster’. It came at a time when only Harley die hards looked forward to the latest offerings from Milwaukee. I was twenty one and in the market for my first new bike!...

2008 Yamaha Raider 1900cc

In November of 2007 I was in the local Yamaha dealer and was eye balling the 2008 Yamaha Raider. It was more than I could over come. I told the sales guy to write it up. After putting some miles on it I have to say This is the one. More power than you can use, handles better than any motorcycle I have owned. Yamaha has a total winner this time.

Here is the ideal oportunity to develop the ultimate bike! Personally I like naked street fighters, sports and motorcrossers!! Thinking outside the box!

I have a great disliking for chains. Having ridden shaft drive BMW’s for 20 years I now have a belt driven model – brilliant. Years ago I had an idea that transmission could be by hydraulic pipe. I think this has now been achieved as a front wheel off roader. By Honda perhaps. Why not persue this for the rear wheel [or should bikes become front wheel drive anyway?] The looks could be made quite...
