Triumph hit the dirt with TF 250-E and TF 450-E road-legal enduro bike duo

Following Triumph’s return to motocross in 2024, the Hinckley firm has now lifted the lid on a pair of road-legal enduro machines, which will be available to customers by May 2025.

Called the TF 250-E and TF 450-E, the duo have been developed from the ground up with the help of Iván Cervantes and Paul Edmondson, who collectively hold nine world championship titles. Prices will start at £9795 and £10,395 respectively.
Despite sharing similar looks to the firm’s TF 250-X and TF 450-RC motocrossers, both bikes have been set up specifically for enduro racing, getting new powertrains, chassis tweaks, and an assortment of electronic wizardry to ensure either bike is competitive at all levels of competition.

“We have all been working so hard to make these new models as agile, fast, and lightweight as possible, refusing to compromise on functionality or usability,” said Paul Edmondson, Triumph Factory Racing Enduro Team Leader.
The Hinckley firm has already seen strong results in the world of Super Enduro, with factory rider Jonny Walker claiming second overall in the 2025 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship aboard the 250 platform.
With the introduction of the new bikes, Walker has revealed plans to dip a toe into extreme enduro as well, confirming that he will race two out of the eight rounds of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship – starting with Valley’s Extreme in Wales on May 10-11, before tackling Austria’s Red Bull Erzbergrodeo later the same month.

“People say you can’t ride extreme [enduro] on a four-stroke,” commented Walker. “I don’t think that’s the case. I think we’re going to be very good straight from the start.”
Engine displacements aside, both bikes share the same spec, with the 450 pitched more towards tackling open terrain at higher speeds.
Engine-wise, the bigger bike uses a liquid-cooled 449.9cc powerplant featuring Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coatings on the gudgeon pin and rockers for enhanced durability. The 250, meanwhile, is described as the most powerful in its class – although with most manufacturers withholding power figures for their enduro offerings, that claim is hard to corroborate.

The 249.9cc liquid-cooled motor revs through to 12,800rpm thanks to a lightweight aluminium piston and titanium valves, with peak power and torque quoted at 41.7bhp and 20.5lb.ft respectively.
Both bikes gain an extra pair of cogs in their gearboxes compared with their motocross stablemates, bringing them up to six speeds, while also carrying more rotational mass to prevent stalling at low speeds.
They also benefit from bespoke Athena engine management systems, which offer dual engine maps that can be switched at the touch of a button – with additional maps available via the optional Wi-Fi module and the Triumph MX Tune Pro app. Launch control, traction control, and a quickshifter also come as standard.

On to the chassis, and unusually for a European enduro machine, Triumph has gone against the grain and opted to run an aluminium twin-spar frame arrangement – whereas competitors favour steel for its typically more forgiving feel and greater flex.
Swingarm geometry has been tweaked slightly from Triumph’s motocross stable, sharpening up the steering for improved manoeuvrability in tight and technical conditions.
Both front and rear ends are suspended by fully-adjustable KYB components, with the 48mm forks serving up 300mm of travel, meanwhile the three-way adjustable linkage-driven rear shock offers 313mm of travel – that’s a reduction of 10mm compared with their motocross counterparts, contributing to a 5mm seat height drop at 955mm overall.

Rounding out the spec list is a digital speedo offering real-time data, including engine temperature, trip information, and gear position, LED lighting all-round, an 8.3-litre fuel tank, and D.I.D DirtStar 7000 rims laced to lightweight cast hubs, mated to Michelin’s new Enduro Medium Two tyres.
