Triumph appear to show new Speed Twin 1200 RS classic model with brief social media teaser clip

Triumph Motorcycles have teased what appears to be a new Speed Twin 1200 RS naked model on social media, releasing clips of a bright orange parallel twin naked ridden dynamically on a mountain road.

“Experience the thrill of exhilarating sports performance combined with agile, dynamic handling, all wrapped in the timeless style and character that only Triumph can deliver,” a preview page on Triumph’s website read. “Be among the first to experience Triumph’s newest edition to the Modern Classics range.”

The use of a twin-cylinder engine is given away in the social media teaser (click the link below) thanks to its audible throaty low-pitch thrum and is likely to be an updated version of the Hinckley brand’s liquid-cooled, 8 valve, SOHC, 270-degree crank unit.

This motor can currently be found in the Speed Twin, Scrambler 1200, Bonneville Bobber, and Bonneville T120 – with the bike seen here likely to belong to the Speed Twin family, given its upright stance and sporting slant. The end of the social teaser shows a second, more obscured version finished in grey which could also signify an updated base model.

On top of the flashy orange paint, which includes subtle RS badging, the bike appears to use a pair of golden upside-down forks, likely produced by Öhlins.

This would replace the current £11,995 standard bike’s 43mm Marzocchi units that offer 120mm of travel. If the forks are being upgraded, it’s likely the rear twin shocks will be too – with the potential for more ground clearance, uprated brakes, and grippy tyres also expected.

It’s possible they may also be the golden Showa stanchions already found on the outgoing Thruxton RS café racer – with the Thruxton name leaving Triumph’s model line-up at the end of 2024.
