Adding lightness! Krämer Motorcycles launch single-cylinder race bike powered by KTM 350 EXC-F motor

Race bike specialists Krämer Motorcycles have announced a run of smaller single cylinder track-only machines for the American market, powered by KTM’s 350 EXC-F four-stroke enduro motor.

Called the APX-350 MA, the fully faired bikes will cost $22,495 (around £17,266) and have been designed to nurture the next generation of US racing talent with a one-make series within the MotoAmerica championship, open for 14 to 21-year-olds.

Machines are open for reservation now, with delivery available in February 2025. Bikes will not be made for other markets next year; however the UK importer says they would like to see it brought over to Blighty in the future.

On the specs side, the APX tips the scales at an impressive 110kg wet and can hold 12 litres of fuel to feed its SOHC, four-valve, liquid-cooled 349.7cc single-cylinder engine.

Power sits at a claimed 54.2bhp (55hp) at 10,700rpm, which should be ample for young riders – especially given the bike’s lack of mass. Torque is just 27lb.ft at 8100rpm, so it’ll be all about corner speed and maintaining the right gears to get the most out of it on track.

Paired with a six-speed gearbox and a stubby right-side exit exhaust, the motor is held within a chromium-molybdenum steel-trellis frame offering adjustment for steering head angle, swing arm angle, and triple clamp offset.

The position of the clip-on bars, rear sets, and seat height can also be adjusted to suit riders growing a different rates, with the standard perch sitting at 820mm. These handlebars are replaceable and come mounted on CNC machined clamps.

Alterations don’t stop there either, with the suspension at the front and rear unsurprisingly open to adjustments to suit the rider.

A pair of 43mm upside down WP open cartridge forks are found up front with full adjustment for preload, compression, and rebound. A WP monoshock also offers the same changes.

Braking power, meanwhile, is dealt with via a single 320mm front disc and Brembo Stylema caliper. A single 220mm rotor sits on the back wheel, with another four-piston caliper, this time produced by Formula. There’s no need for a second disc up front, due to the size and power of the machine.

Elsewhere, you get a ride-by-wire throttle developed by Krämer, plus engine braking control, adjustable throttle maps, and ignition timing control for the up/down quickshifter.

You’ll also find 17in cast aluminium wheels, designed to be paired with Dunlop slick tyres – likely meaning more grip than power for some serious cornering dedication. To assist with further handling improvements, Krämer have pre-wired it for potentiometers than can be installed on the front and rear suspension for data logging between sessions.

The onboard TFT screen from Ecumaster displays key information for the rider and features an integrated GPS-powered lap timer, too.
