Bolton bike builder CCM reveals tasty Street Moto street tracker duo starting at under £10k

CCM have unveiled a pair of super lightweight 600cc street trackers which, judging by their spec, should be a hoot to ride.

The new Street Moto range comprises the £9995 base model and the more premium £11,495 Street Moto R.

The firm hope that by blending their heritage with boldness, vibrancy and youthfulness that “the Street Moto will capture the imagination of a new group of CCM riders.”

Like many of the Bolton bike manufacturer’s other machines, it’s clear that the Street Moto and Street Moto R are an exercise in minimalism, with each put together without a gram of excess.

The stripped-back trackers make use of the same TIG-welded twin spar steel frame and swingarm, as well as the same single-cylinder 600cc engine, with changes to the wheels, rear suspension, exhaust and paintjob setting the two apart. The ‘71’ insignia points to 1971 – the year that CCM were founded and both bikes get carbon-fibre body panels too.

The engine is the same six-speed, ex-Husqvarna unit powering their existing six-bike range. It produces 55bhp and 42.7lb.ft of torque – while that may not sound earth-shattering, either machine should be suitably sporty with a lithe wet weight quoted at just 141kg – or 139kg for the ‘R’ model.

Likewise, the frame is expected to be the same tried and tested steel trellis affair used elsewhere in the British marque’s catalogue. Suspension too resembles their other offerings. Marzocchi forks feature upfront and a YSS monoshock sits out back, with the ‘R’ version getting an external remote reservoir too.

Both bikes roll on 17-inch wheels shod with sporty road-based rubber. The ‘R’ makes use of lightweight Dymag alloy race wheels whereas the more basic model runs on non-tubeless spoked Takasago Excel rims.

Among the list of premium features the R benefits from is an underseat exhaust system, complete with titanium silencer. It also gets exposed carbon fibre accents, carbon fibre sump guard, and an R-specific handlebar plaque and battery box insignia.

With a seat height of 830mm, the Street Moto siblings are somewhat loftier than rival bikes and come with a steeper price tag too.

Although the price may seem punitive against similar capacity rivals, it’s worth noting that the CCMs maintain an edge in terms of quoted performance figures – however, this does push them out of A2 licence eligibility.

More mainstream contenders such as the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Triumph Speed 400 are significantly down on power (and exclusivity), but cost far less money. Climb up the capacity bracket to machines such as Yamaha’s MT-07 and while the Japanese bike wins in terms of outright power, it tips the scales at over 30kg heavier than the new British machine.
