Honda upgrade their NT1100 sports tourer with more tech and the option of semi-active suspension

Honda have responded to customer feedback and released an updated NT1100 for 2025 that addresses many of the complaints levelled at the original version of their budget-friendly sports tourer.

And not only that, there is also a new Electronic Suspension variant that comes with Showa-EERA semi-active suspension should buyers wish to push the boat out.

Launched in 2022, the NT1100 is a no-frills tourer or daily commuter that sells on practicality, a tempting price tag and containing lots of handy features.

Hitting the right note with buyers, the NT was Europe’s best-selling sports tourer in 2023 and to date Honda have sold over 12,000 units. But it wasn’t perfect and that’s why the updated model is a welcome arrival for 2025.

Heavily based around the existing machine, the new NT1100 features a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) for the first time, bringing an angle-responsive function to not only the ABS but also the three-level HSTC (with integrated wheelie control) and Rear Lift Control.

In addition, if you opt for a bike with Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), which 66% of buyers do, the IMU is linked to it to improve its response. The DCT system itself has also been refined with smoother starting from standstill, enhanced low-speed control and revised gear change timing to take into account the motor’s improved torque characteristics.

Although the parallel-twin motor produces the same 100.6bhp as before, changes to the fuelling system, intake, combustion and exhaust see it gain a claimed 7% throughout its low and mid-range torque curve as well as a boost of 5.2ft.lb at peak torque. It still comes with three default riding modes and two customisable ones.

When it comes to practicality, Honda have completely redesigned the NT’s screen with a new five-way adjustable system (over a 167mm range) that is able to be operated with one hand, redesigned the fairing to give it a sleeker look (the fairing is partially constructed from bio-degradable Durabio) and extended the rear mudguard by 150mm for better weather protection.

The NT’s seat is now 20% larger at its rear and the panniers increased in capacity by 4L a side with them now 37L on the left and 36L on the right, which Honda claim is enough for either to hold a full-face lid.

DRLs have also been incorporated into the twin LED projector headlights. As before, heated grips, a centre stand, USB and ACC power sockets and a 6.5in TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto are all standard fitment.

Alongside all these upgrades, 2025 sees the arrival of the NT1100 Electronic Suspension, which comes with Showa-EERA semi-active suspension.

The same system as used on the Africa Twin ES models, it features three pre-defined suspension modes (Urban, Tour and Rain) as well as a customisable ‘User’ mode. The system automatically varies the damping at both ends within 15 milliseconds with the rider able to alter the spring preload finely through 24 steps while on the move.

Prices for the NT1100 and NT1100 Electronic Suspension will be £12,679 and £14,099 respectively. DCT will be an option on the NT1100 model (priced at £13,679) but the ES version only comes with it fitted as standard.
