BMW take aim at the commuter market with updated C400X & C400GT scooters for 2025

BMW are making a push into the urban mobility segment in 2025 by upping both the standard specification level and list of optional extras on their two mid-sized scooters – the C400GT and C400X.

Launched in 2018, the C400X is the dynamic-targeted scooter while its C400GT sibling is a ‘Gran Turismo’ version suitable for covering longer distances on.

Both machines are powered by the same 350cc single-cylinder motor with a CVT transmission, which has been made Euro5+ compliant for 2025 without losing any performance. And now they are safer than ever.

Thanks to the addition of an IMU, BMW’s angle-responsive ABS and traction control systems, ABS Pro and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), now come fitted as standard to both bikes where the old models only had basic ABS and stability control.

In addition, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), which detects if the rider accidentally keeps the throttle open while braking and prevents the bike from accelerating, is included with a flashing hazard lights warning when the deceleration is deemed too aggressive.

Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR), BMW’s system that prevents the rear wheel from skidding under hard deceleration, is also now standard fitment.

Upping the dash’s spec, BMW have armed the C400 models with a 6.5in TFT dash as standard with the GT model having the option of increasing its size to 10.25in. Containing connectivity, the dash allows access to music, calls, texts and basic navigation as well as vehicle functions, all controlled via BMW’s multi-controller. There is also an actively-cooled phone storage compartment with a charging point.

When it comes to practicality, BMW have increased the underseat storage on both models. The C400X has 3L more capacity while the C400GT has an extra 12L when you include its front pockets.

And if that’s not enough for you, there is an accessory 43.5L top case (13.5L bigger than before) which can carry a 10kg payload, up 5kg on the previous design.

Styling-wise the C400X has a new front design and even a ‘Rugged’ model variant (£300 extra), which adds Kalamata metallic matt paint, red rims, off-road-style tyres and more.

The GT has a ‘Exclusive’ variant (£220 extra), which comes in Diamondwhite metallic with styling upgrades and even features floor lighting with a BMW logo projection! The C400X costs from £6940 with the GT starting at £7900.
