Vespa give them premier scooter a big bore boost with a new GTS 310 for 2025

Vespa have given their GTS scooter the big bore treatment for 2025, rolling out a new GTS 310 with the largest displacement and most powerful motor ever fitted as standard to one of their twist and goes.

The familiar silhouette remains, but the new GTS 310 is far from old-school underneath. Under the familiar Italian curves now lies an uprated engine with more grunt than the marque has previously ever mustered throughout their near 80-year history.

Succeeding the old 278cc single-cylinder is a reworked unit with the displacement bumped up by 11.5% thanks to an increase in stroke from 63mm to 70mm.

Although much of the architecture from the old block remains, Vespa claims to have changed almost three-quarters of the components, hiking the power from the 310cc water-cooled single cylinder up to 25bhp, while also improving peak torque.

Among other components, the powertrain incorporates new injectors, a tilted cylinder, a new starting system, and a crankcase design that reduces mechanical and drive belt noise. The new engine meets Euro 5+ standards and is not only more powerful but also reportedly more efficient to boot.

Since their inception, Vespa have sold some 19 million scooters globally, with two million of those in the last decade alone.

The GTS barely sways from that well established formula, and engine aside, the new bike is extremely similar to last year’s model, retaining the same frame and chassis specs.

Onboard tech is hardly cutting-edge by today’s standards, although the GTS does get traction control, ABS, LED headlights, and the option to specify phone connectivity.

Three variants are available: the standard GTS, the GTS Super, and the GTS SuperSport. Although there are no performance differences between the trio, the most premium SuperSport variant does benefit from phone connectivity as standard.
