Return of the Flying Flea! Royal Enfield enter electric market with urban duo to arrive in 2026

Royal Enfield have confirmed they are moving into the urban electric market for 2026 with a pair of new battery-powered models, both using the iconic Flying Flea name. This will form a new sub-brand for electric mobility, according to the firm.

The news comes just weeks on from the arrival of spyshots, which showed the bike being developed on the streets of Barcelona. Two bikes will be available – a retro C6 and scrambler S6 – with the former using a pair of complex girder forks to set it apart from the rest of the competition.

There are limited details on both models, which remain in development ahead of a later reveal, however both are said to offer ‘urban plus’ levels of performance for riding around a city and the occasional trip out of town.

Launched at an event in the Italian city of Milan on the eve of the 2024 Eicma trade show, the machines are set to go up against the likes of BMW’s CE 02 and Maeving’s RM1S – bikes that work for inner-city riders.

Speaking at the ceremony, Head of Eicher Motors (RE’s parent company) Siddhartha Lal said: “It’s a market that’s not been cracked.

“We are not throwing a dice and hoping for the best, we believe in this. We believe in this as a platform that’s going to grow in urban plus vehicles.”

Performance figures are unknown at this time, however the thin wheels and overall proportions imply it will be similar to a conventional petrol 125 and likely be available to ride on an A1 licence.
