Springfield of dreams! Indian reveal ultra exclusive special edition Springfield cruiser

In case their newly unveiled Roadmaster Elite wasn’t quite exclusive enough, Indian Motorcycle have also announced another addition to their cruiser lineup – the Springfield Special Edition, with only a single bike allocated for the UK, priced at £25,895.

Only 50 units will be made available globally with the top-of-the-line Springfield set to mark the final chapter for the model in some markets. This makes the Limited Edition the last chance for any prospective European collectors to own the classically styled machine from new.

Indian have made sure it’s dressed for the occasion: the two-tone paint scheme in the American firm’s ‘Red over Ivory Cream’ pays homage to their 121-yearlong roots, and Anniversary Gold Metallic accents and pinstriping run throughout, while an illuminated headdress logo on the front fender further adds to the retro flair.

Each Springfield Special is also finished off with numbered, serialised badges, confirming its exclusivity and collectible status.

At the heart of the 362kg machine is Indian’s ‘Thunderstroke 116’ engine, an air-cooled 1890cc V-twin that cranks out 126lb-ft of torque at 3000 rpm. It features rear cylinder deactivation to reduce radiant heat to the rider’s lap and is tuneable between three ride modes – Tour, Standard, and Sport, which meter throttle response depending on conditions and riding style.

While the Springfield doesn’t quite pack the luxury appeal of the larger Roadmaster model, Indian have nonetheless adorned the classically styled tourer with a few conveniences to make mile munching a little less laborious.

The bike gets a detachable, quick-release windscreen, colour-matched, remote-central locking panniers, adjustable sissy bar, highway pegs and adjustable rider and pillion floorboards. That’s not all though, as there’s also keyless ignition, cruise control, and a USB charging port as standard, bringing a splash of modernity to the vintage cruiser.
