Elite Status! Indian’s £38,695 Roadmaster Elite brings even more premium to the brand's flagship

Indian Motorcycles have launched one of their most premium bikes to date – the extremely limited run Roadmaster Elite.

The news launches in conjunction with the brand also resurrecting their most affordable model for European customers, with the rebirth of the Scout Sixty

At £38,695, the new Elite version of the Indian Roadmaster is hardly pocket change. What it lacks in affordability however, it more than makes up for in exclusivity. Just four of the luxury cruisers are set make their way to UK shores, and only 300 units are to be produced worldwide – of which, just 60 will leave North America.

Customers signing up to purchase the Elite will be paying over 10 grand more than a standard Roadmaster model. That doesn’t buy any extra performance though, with the 1890cc air-cooled ‘Thunderstroke 116’ motor still tuned to pump out 126 lb-ft of torque like the rest of the Roadmaster range.

Peak power figures are not provided and with 404kg of mass to shift before fluids, riders, or luggage are added, this hearty slice of Americana seemingly appears to be built for comfort, not speed.

What the extra cash does buy is more bells and whistles than almost anything else on two wheels. Both rider and passenger seats are heated and cooled, the windscreen is electrically adjustable across 102mm of travel, and twelve bass boosted speakers are in place to boom your favourite Johnny Cash track.

These speakers are located in the front fairing, panniers, and top box (or ‘trunk’ as Indian call it) for a surround sound experience. All three items of luggage feature remote central locking too.

Indian has also replaced the stock headlight with its adaptive LED unit, which not only has a higher output than standard but also uses lean-angle sensors to illuminate the road through bends.

Up front sits a 5.7″ touchscreen display that controls many of the bike’s functions and features an inbuilt sat nav, as well as factory-installed ‘Ride Command+’ offering one year of free connected services including a bike locator, health monitor, Apple CarPlay, and more.

Each machine is finished with signature ‘Elite’ graphics and features numbered, serialised badges throughout, underpinning its exclusivity.

Paint-wise, Indian offers only one option, but it is rather striking, with the bike finished in a tri-tone colour scheme with hand-painted gold accents that nods to the classic ‘Springfield Blue’ used on the brand’s early machines.
