Honda look to keep scooter top spot with PCX125 chassis updates and tech-laden DX version for 2025

In a bid to maintain the dominance of the mighty PCX125, Honda have adorned the learner legal machine with a range of updates for 2025.

The scooter has battled with Yamaha’s NMAX 125 for the top spot in the UK sales chart throughout 2024 (according to registration figures from the MCIA), with the Honda pipping the Yamaha for pole position more often than not. This makes the Honda the highest selling two-wheeled vehicle of the year so far in the UK and over 140,000 units have been sold throughout Europe since its launch in 2010, too.

For 2025, Honda have given the scooter updated remote reservoir twin rear shocks and a rear disc brake for the first time, moving away from the drum set up that it previously made use of.

That’s not all though, there’s also changes to the bodywork to improve aesthetics, three new paint jobs to choose from, and a new USB-C port nestled out of the weather in the glovebox.

A new ‘DX’ model is also set to be introduced, which will gain a backlit, toggle switch controlled, five-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity.

Under the skin, the PCX125 retains its tried-and-true 125cc Smart Power Plus four-valve engine, which is unchanged. It still boasts fuel-saving Idle Stop technology and delivers 12.3bhp along with 8.8 lb-ft of torque.
