The Suzuki GSX-S1000 has received a few changes for 2017 including more power and a slipper clutch

With its powerful 1000cc motor, the GSX-S1000 has become a firm favourite in the super naked category and for 2017 it’s had a few updates.

The headline is that power has increased from 140hp to 150hp, while torque is up to 79.6ftlb at 9,500rpm. Suzuki say this increase in power is thanks to new crankcase ventilation holes but it’s worth mentioning that when we put the old model on the dyno we found Suzuki were underreporting the power figure; we measured 144bhp at the back wheel.

Suzuki ha also added a slipper clutch, to aid with smoother downshifts, as well as some minor aesthetic changes such as black levers and foot controls. It’s worth noting that these changes are also applied to the faired GSX-S1000F, which also gains a tinted screen.

For 2017 both models are available in blue and black, as well as red and black, while the S1000F is also available in all-white. The RRP for the 2017 GSX-S1000 is £9,699 and the GSX-S1000F is £10,299. There will also be a Phantom special edition S1000 with a matt black paint finish for £9,899.
