BMW's Villa d'Este track record

BMW’s stunning supercharged R5 hommage revealed last week is just the latest in a line of stunning concept bikes revealed at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the shore of Lake Como, most of which have made it to production.

Here are the other stunning bikes BMW have revealed in the past.

2016 – R5 Hommage

This year’s bike seems destined to be a showcase for the new BMW Heritage division, rather than directly influencing a new model. But we can live in hope…

 

2015 – Concept 101

This outlandish K1600-based bagger might seem like an unlikely production model, but MCN uncovered patent images last week that confim the bike will arrive in 2017.

 

2014 – Concept Roadster

This stripped-back streetfighter heralded a makeover for the dowdy R1200R, which resulted in one of the most high-tech and capable nakeds ever built.

 

2013 – Concept 90

This super-cool vision in orange was the precursor to the wildly popular R nineT, which is one of BMW’s best-selling bikes. A half-faired version is yet to arrive, but we expect it to in 2017.
