New Aprilia Caponord 1200 spied

Aprilia’s new 1200cc V-twin Caponord has been spotted testing on the road in Italy as the firm prepares to take on the road adventure market and its leading exponent, the Ducati Multistrada.

Italian magazine Motociclismo scooped this grainy image of the bike and shared it with MCN.

The Caponord is thought to be a prototype of a 2012 bike undergoing final testing. It will have the 1197cc V-twin from the Dorsoduro 1200, producing around 130bhp. The new Caponord is fundamentally based upon the Dorsoduro, with many parts carried over.

Expect to see ABS, two-stage traction control and three switchable riding modes: Rain, Touring and Sport.

The picture shows a bike that looks almost finished and just months away from completion. Expect to see this model at the Milan motorcycle show in November 2011.
