24-hours till unveiling of BMW S1000RR superbike

BMW will be taking the wraps off the all-new and much anticipated S1000RR superbike in just 24 hours from now – two years after MCN brought you the scoop that a BMW 1000cc superbike rival was on the way.

Early indications are that the technology on the S1000RR is going to be extremely sophisticated. We already know it’s putting out 182bhp after dyno figures were leaked unofficially.

OFF-SET CAMSHAFTS
MCN’s technical guru Neil Spalding believes the S1000RR has off-set camshafts which is a clever packaging solution inside the top of the engine that allows high revs but simple construction.

SOPHISTICATED ELECTRONICS
Electronics are also thought to be a big part of the S1000RR with four-stage ABS and race-derived traction control all part of the package.

BMW showed off a completely finished and only mildly disguised S1000RR at last weekend’s Jerez MotoGP round where it was lapping as an official safety bike.

Tomorrow we get to see the full undisguised version complete with asymmetrical front lights and styling panels.

Check back tomorrow at www.motorcylclenews.com from 4pm when we will bring all of the details, interviews and pictures of the production version of the BMW S1000RR
