Enfield gears up for the future

It might have been around for nearly 60 years but Royal Enfield has no intention to allow the Bullet to be killed by the latest emissions regulations.

The firm revealed a redesigned version of its 499cc engine at the NEC, complete with electronic fuel injection which allows it to beat Euro III emissions regulations. The new motor is set to be fitted to all the firm’s bikes by 2009, while the new emissions laws will see the end of the most basic iron-blocked, four-speed version of the Bullet.
