Can-Am Spyder

Canadian firm Bombardier Recreational Products – best known for its Skidoo snowmobiles and Can-Am quads – has finally revealed its three-wheeled superbike, the Can-Am Spyder.

Powered by a 106bhp version of the Rotax V-twin usually found in Aprilia’s RSV, the Spyder offers bike-style performance and car-like grip and stability.

Harnessed to a bike-style five-speed gearbox, with an optional electronic push-button shift and a reverse gear to help manoeuvring, the motor should give the 316kg machine supercar-killing acceleration.

High-tech electronics including stability control, power steering, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake distribution and traction control should help tame the performance

It’s expected to go on sale later this year. In America, it costs $14,999 for the basic version, but UK prices have yet to be announced.
