We're testing 05 999
Ducati’s 05 999 makes its public debut at the Munich Show next week – but MCN has been testing it this week and will bring you the world’s first test of the £11,500 Italian beauty in our September 15 issue.
The 186kg twin makes as much power as the 04 999R, weighs 6kg less and will cost around £8000 less than the current range-topping R model.
The new 140bhp engine makes 16bhp more than the 04 999. There’s a new swingarm like the one used on its WSB racers and a new steering damper assembly.
There are minor changes to the front end with the top vents blanked to raise high-speed stability. The fairing is made from new polymer materials, saving 1.2kg.
The frame will be red and the wheels black – like this year’s 999R. And there’s a black anodised alloy cover over the silencers.
An all black version will be available, too.
