PIAGGIO is launching a 250cc scooter next month called the Jupiter.

Powered by a Yamaha YP250 Majesty engine it will be in UK showrooms by April.

A 180cc version and a 500cc one will follow later this year. Piaggio’s Scott Hinchliffe says these too would use Yamaha engines. No price has been set yet for the Jupiter range.

The firm is planning to launch a second all-new model in June, which will come in 50cc, 125cc or 150cc versions. Italjet is offering one year’s free third party fire and theft insurance on every model.

The deal also includes in one year’s free RAC cover for roadside recovery, security identification markings etched on 15 different components and a Corbin lock and chain.
