MotoGP 2023: Why Ducati is winning big

MotoGP hasn’t known this kind of domination since the final days of the 500cc two-strokes and the earliest days of the 990cc fourstrokes, with Honda’s NSR500 and RC211V.

As factories prepare for the second part of the season, starting with the British Grand Prix in early August, here’s a recap of the technical happenings during the first part of the year.

The story is utter Ducati domination: victory in all but one of the eight GPs so far, three-quarters of all podium positions and five of the top six championship positions, taken by a selection of Ducati’s eight riders.

Aprilia and KTM are chasing hard, but they’re not there yet, while Honda and Yamaha are in such deep trouble that some paddock people fear they will follow Suzuki through MotoGP’s exit door.

So what’s going on?
