‘I can be competitive in any class’: Sam Lowes opens up to MCN about his potential switch to World Superbike in 2024

1 of 1

Sam Lowes may find himself in the World Superbike Championship in 2024. The Brit is seeking a fresh challenge after spending 10 years inside the MotoGP paddock, nine of them in Moto2.

Lowes is poised to return to a paddock he knows well from his days in World Supersport and, more recently, when supporting brother Alex. He wasn’t short of options, either.

It’s believed a chance to join Yamaha’s WSB operation was on the table. But it appears most likely that Marc VDS will create a new team, possibly using Ducati machinery, with Lowes as rider.

Scheduling changes in 2023, resulting in reduced track time for Moto2, knowing another chance to step up to MotoGP has gone, and the desire to “travel less but ride more” all appear to have influenced Lowes’ decision.

MCN sat down with Sam just before the summer break to discuss his reasons for pondering a new challenge for 2024.
