The humiliation of Marc Marquez and Honda at the Sachsenring was total. In a weekend that saw him crash five times, lose his cool on camera, and sustain yet another hand injury, it proved a difficult watch for fans and critics of a once imperious combination.

After his fifth punishing crash of the weekend during Sunday warm up, Marquez made a despondent declaration that he was “not ready to race” despite being medically cleared to do so.

That is unheard of.

Just how long can the former dream partnership of Honda and Marquez survive? A dismal weekend in Germany escalated to a crisis point.
