First ride incoming: BMW R nineT Urban G/S

If you are into your G/S models, or GS models depending on the vintage of your bike, then you will probably have been as excited as us when BMW pulled the covers off their latest R nineT model – the Urban G/S. As the name suggests, and the look more than confirms, the latest entry into BMW’s busy air-cooled retro family pays homage to the ground breaking (and company-saving!) 1980 R80 G/S.

Dig a little deeper and you soon discover the Urban G/S is basically an R nineT Scrambler with a new nose cowl, red bench seat, single silencer, high mudguard and retro Motorsport paint scheme, but it looks so good we will let this slide.

And if you want it to look even better you can opt for the X model, which takes the £10,550 base Urban G/S and adds spoke wheels, heated grips, a chrome exhaust cover and LED indicators for an extra £635. You also get the option of on or off-road orientated tyres if you fancy a bit of green lane action on the way home.

MCN will be testing the Urban G/S tomorrow, a few days before the bike hits UK dealerships, so keep an eye on our social media feeds to see what we reckon of it. If the look floats your boat, you may need to stick your deposit in fast as according to the dealers MCN spoke to, the styling seems to have hit the right note with lots of potential owners and orders are starting to back up…
