1 of 2

KTM’s all new big 160bhp 1290 Super Adventure is being launched today on the stunning roads of Gran Canaria. MCN Senior Road Tester Adam Child is our lucky man enjoying the sunshine and the delights of KTM’s new big adventure. Here’s what he has to say so far about the new bike.

“14 times on the bounce Dakar winners KTM have a long history of producing off road bikes and along with BMW have led the way in fast growing Adventure market in recent years. New for 2015 is their all-new Super Adventure, their biggest and most powerful adventure bike to date.

“At its heart is a modified 1301cc Super Duke motor, which produces a claimed 160bhp and a massive 103ftlb of torque. What’s more, at only 2500rpm it’s already making close to 80ftlb. Controlling all that power are four different rider modes: Sport, Street, Rain and Off road. There’s also traction control as standard which can be deactivated if you wish. As with the 1190 Adventure (which will remain in the line-up), KTM’s excellent stability control with built-in cornering ABS comes as standard. There’s also KTM’s unique semi active suspension, developed in partnership with WP.

“As this is KTM’s flagship model, designed for big miles, the newcomer comes with some unique features, such as a 30-litre fuel tank, heated grips and heated seat as standard, cruise control, a huge adjustable screen and even cornering LED lights – plus much more.

“In fact, the list of specs and rider aids is huge.”
