In just a few days I am heading to Italy on the Multistrada 1200 S Touring and I am getting the final bits sorted.

I’ve done loads of European riding in the past and I much prefer to get all of my worrying and preparation done before I go rather than adding any hassle to the trip. My final purchase is going to have to be buying a GB sticker for the Touratech topbox as it was only this morning I realised the numberplate doesn’t have the usual GB and European stars.

Other than that the bike is getting a full clean and chain tension check and lube as well as double-checking the tyres are at the required 36psi front and rear. Most of my trips have been done on bikes with much less luggage carrying capacity so having a topbox and two panniers (along with a tankbag) is luxury.

My trip to Italy is to the Ducati factory in Bologna where I will be going out riding with the Ducati test riders on the roads the bike and the Skyhook semi-active suspension was fettled on. To say I am excited is a huge understatement.

Keep checking back as the full 2500 mile round trip will be in a future issue of MCN and I will be writing about the bike throughout the year.
