BMW HP2 launch first impressions

1 of 1

The new BMW HP Sport caught the eyes of the 1000s of visitors  to the recent NEC Motorcycle Show and MCN can now say it goes as good as it looks.

MCN´s chief road tester Trevor Franklin is at the world launch of the new addition to BMW´s HP series in Spain and has this to say:

“This is the most sports-biased bike of  BMW´s range and oddly it is a Boxer-powered model. In the turns the bike is so easy to throw around it defies belief. And then there are the Brembo Monobloc radial calipers… they are so strong it is incredible. Coupled  with the Telelever front forks, and their lack of dive, you can brake  right up to the last millimetre before turning in.

“The engine is punchy, the quickshift  system works too, but the revs need to be near the redline for a smooth shift.

“All in all it´s a surprise package and, of course, beautifully put together – of equal quality to  Ducati´s 1098. This has to be a serious contender for fast road riders who want to be seen riding something seriously different.”
