FIM Hard Enduro World Championship under threat as promoter pulls out amid financial difficulties

The future of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship (HEWC) hangs in the balance after series promoter WESS Promotion announced its withdrawal from the 2025 season due to financial difficulties.

In a statement, WESS confirmed that despite extensive efforts to secure new partners, they had been unable to find the financial backing required to run the championship.

The news follows the withdrawal of their series’ main sponsor, KTM, back in December 2024, in light of the Austrian manufacturer’s ongoing financial difficulties.

“As the current promoter of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship, we regret to inform that we will not be able to hold the 2025 Championship,” the announcement read.

“Despite many promising discussions and successful negotiations, we have now reached our self-imposed deadline without securing the financial backing needed. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our plans for the 2025 season.”

With many potential sponsors having already allocated their 2025 budgets by the time of the announcement, WESS ultimately failed to secure the necessary support.

FIM President Jorge Viegas has since responded, saying: “The FIM Hard Enduro World Championship is a great championship, so we are determined to find a solution that can allow it to continue this year and long into the future.”

While the championship’s future hangs in the balance, several of its flagship events – such as Erzbergrodeo, Romaniacs, and Tennessee Knockout – are set to continue as standalone competitions with the backing of Red Bull, regardless of FIM involvement.
