Moto Morini 500 duo to be auctioned in London raising funds for MS Society UK charity
A pair of classic Moto Morini twins are set to go under the hammer at next month’s Devitt MCN London Motorcycle Show to raise money for a leading UK multiple sclerosis (MS) charity.
Historic vehicle specialists, Iconic Auctioneers will be hosting the sale, which will take place on February 16 at 11am inside London’s ExCel centre.
Each machine will be available to view in person from two days prior at the MCN show, with the money raised then passed on to the MS Society charity.
The bikes in question are a 1978 500 Strada – recommissioned in 2021 – and the other is a mostly original, unrestored 1981 500 Sport.
The Strada has covered 13,500 miles, whereas the slightly newer Sport carries 23,400 miles on the clock. Both are original UK models with correct frame and engine numbers, and both make use of almost identical 478cc V-twin engines.
The two lots are listed without reserve, although they are each expected to fetch in the region of £3000 to £5000 each. They are said to be in good running order, although will require a check over after sitting unused for a short period.
That said, there is numerous paperwork to hand detailing both the authenticity and upkeep of each machine, including invoices to support the Strada’s refresh four years ago.
All money generated in the sale will go to support the charity, who conduct research into beating multiple sclerosis, which affects 150,000 people across the UK, while also offering support to those impacted by it.
The cause is particularly pertinent to the vendor of the Morini duo, whose late wife was diagnosed with the condition. Find out more about the bikes and how to bid online here.
