Honda top global charts with more than 20 million bikes snapped up in 2024 - ten times BMW's figure
Honda’s global motorcycle business is predicting that sales for their current fiscal year will end at 20.2 million bikes – equating to around 40% of the world’s two-wheeled market share.
Their current financial year will end on March 31, 2025, with the vast majority of the sales expected to come from the Asian market, including Indonesia, Thailand, India, and Vietnam.
Here, 17.1 million bikes are set to be sold – with Japan, Europe, and the USA making up just 6% of the yearly sales at a combined 1.2 million units.

That might seem low; however BMW Motorrad celebrated their best-ever sales year in 2024 by shifting 210,408 bikes across all markets – however they don’t produce the same kinds of low, capacity mass-market models that make up much of Honda’s global numbers.
According to Japanese brand, the demand for larger leisure motorcycles is high across Europe, with lines including the CB nakeds, CBR sports models, and Africa Twin adventure models doing well.
“In addition, historically popular product brands in Europe, such as Hornet and Transalp were revived,” a statement from the brand read. “Honda is producing these large-size models with low-volume, high-variety production; however, the efficiency of development, procurement and production is being increased through adoption of common platforms.”

Looking to the future, Honda are predicting an increase in sales – mainly in Southwest Asia. Here, 50 million bikes are sold a year already – with the brand expecting this to rise to 60 million by 2030, when including electric motorcycles.
Honda plan to introduce 30 electric models by 2030 and increase annual global sales to four million. They also plan to achieve carbon neutrality across all biking products in the 2040s.
