Honda CT125 Hunter Cub competition aims to raise £30,000 to get paralysed rider back on a bike

Motorcycle adventure expert and tour guide, Nathan Millward is aiming to raise £30,000 for a paralysed rider by giving people the chance to win a number of Honda CT125 Hunter Cubs.

With entrants paying one pound per ticket to enter, the competition began with the chance win just one bike, and a fund-raising goal of £10,000.

However, once the total climbed past £20,000, Nathan decided to add a second Cub from his touring collection as an additional prize. If the total pot reaches £30,000 before ending on January 11, a third CT will be added.

“The bikes have held up well and are mechanically sound,” Millward told MCN, having previously run riding experience events with them from his North Devon venue, Dorothy’s Speed Shop. “They’ve got a few scuffs from being bashed about on the Devon lanes, but they clean up well.

“They’ve all done about 5000 miles and are a manageable trail bike with enough power to get anywhere.”

The money is being raised for 53-year-old, Richard Rowe from Leamington Spa who is a close friend of Nathan and was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in the Alps in 2023. It’s hoped that the money will get him back out on the road, riding either a Can-Am three-wheeler, or modified trike.

“I’m blown away by the response, it’s been phenomenal,” Rowe told MCN. “I know what it feels like to ride, and for people to want to get me back to that is fantastic.”

Previous fundraisers organised by Millward for Richard’s cause have also included a Just Giving page of over £39,000 set up just after the incident to help the family deal with the financial implications of the injury.

Although never officially sold in the UK, Millward’s CT125s were imported from Thailand around three years ago.

The winners will be announced during a special ceremony in Hinckley on January 11, with further prizes on offer also including an experience day riding with Millward in 2025, and more. To enter the competition, visit the website today.
