Moto Morini 500 V-twin duo raise over £7000 for MS Society charity at London MCN show

A pair of classic Moto Morini twins have sold at auction, raising £7705 for a leading UK multiple sclerosis (MS) charity.
The bikes, a mostly original, unrestored 1981 500 Sport and a 1978 500 Strata – recommissioned in 2021, went for £3220 and £4485, respectively at the recent Devitt Insurance MCN London Motorcycle Show at the ExCel arena.
The Strada had covered 13,500 miles, whereas the slightly newer Sport showed 23,400 miles on the clock. Both are original UK models with correct frame and engine numbers, and both feature near-identical 478cc V-twin engines.

The sale took place at the show on Sunday, February 16 with historic vehicle specialists Iconic Auctioneers hosting proceedings. All funds raised were donated to the MS Society charity, with Iconic also waiving their usual fees.
The cause is particularly poignant for the vendor of the Morini duo, whose late wife was diagnosed with the condition. Away from the Morinis, the auction saw numerous other classic machines go under the hammer.
Among them was a brand-new and unregistered, still in its crate, 2005 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade, which fetched an impressive £22,000.

That’s not all though, as the event also saw several classic Yamaha race bikes sold from a comprehensive private collection.

The most senior of these being a very early air-cooled TD-2, which went for £8833, through to the latest of the bunch – a 1991 TZ250B, which sold at £13,225.
Other standouts results include a 1305cc Henderson Four-Cylinder Model K Deluxe, which fetched a hefty £62,100. A first-production-year Honda CZ100 Monkey Bike also went for £8165, and a one-of-1500 Ducati Desmosedici RR, which sold for an undisclosed amount.
