Radical Finnish electric motorcycle brand, Verge have been engaging with inquisitive UK bikers by taking part in the annual Ace Café Reunion Brighton Burn Up event.

The plug-in firm brought along two of their £36,880 TS Pro machines for the Sunday, September 8 ride, which saw thousands of bikes leave London’s Ace Café in the morning before descending on Brighton sea front.

Verge began selling bikes in the UK in May 2024 and delivered their first customer machine the day after the Brighton extravaganza. It’s hoped another TS Pro will be delivered in the next few weeks, with test rides available from the Westfield London store.

“There’s a lot of people that need to ride it to understand it,” VP of Series Engineering, Krishna Mistry told MCN in Brighton. “It’s not for everyone, we understand that. Some people may be into EV technology and if you live in a city the regulations are changing and they will be changing in the future. The motor is the most eye-catching thing and the talking point.”

That motor sits within the hubless carbon rear wheel, producing a claimed 136.8bhp and 738lb.ft of torque. Top speed is limited to 124mph with an urban range of 217 miles. Verge say you can go from 20% battery to full in around 35 minutes on a fast charger, with claimed weight being 245kg.

“You’ve got no chain drive, so no efficiency losses, and direct torque to the wheel and lower efficiency losses for riding,” Mistry continued. “The battery is in the body, in the frame, and you’ve got a low centre of gravity so it’s quite a different dynamic behaviour to a normal ICE engined bike.

“We do have a mix of people based around the Western part of the world, so we do have people working from California, Canada, the UK, and Europe engineering the bike and development. We’ve been selling since the back end of last year in Finland which was our first market.

“We have opened up retail operations in Germany, and we’re looking to expand in Europe and eventually the USA as well. We do have two stores in the US currently drumming up interest and collecting reservations as well.”
