Sidecar adventure duo offer £28,000 Ural prize in bid to raise funds for dream biking destination

Three-wheeled adventure duo, Matt Bishop and Reece Gilkes (better known as The Sidecar Guys) are hosting a giveaway of a 2024 Ural Gear Up Sahara Edition to raise funds to launch a sidecar themed bar and events centre.

The pair are giving away the £28,000 prize as part of a competition which they hope will generate £100,000 to create their dream destination in the northeast of England. So far, £18,000 has been raised for the project.

“Our unit is getting pretty full and we need to find a new sidecar home,” said Gilkes. “It will be a community hub for bikers and adventure travellers.”

Bishop and Gilkes are best known for circumnavigating the world via scooter and sidecar between 2017-2019. The 34,000-mile journey took them through 35 countries and secured them a Guinness World Record.

Alongside the main draw, which will take place on December 30, there will be a series of smaller prizes drawn monthly, with a pair of Adventure Spec Magadan panniers and tickets to the 2025 Lightweight Adventure Festival set to be given away this September.

Entry costs £10 per ticket with multiple entries opening up further perks. For example, spending £30 will grant three entries, but also adds a voucher for 10% off any of The Sidecar Guy’s sidecar experience days.
