After almost five decades, much loved Oliver’s Mount road racing commentator, Tony Coupland, has retired.

Coupland first attended the Mount in Scarborough as a spectator aged just four and has continued to be a regular at the road racing venue ever since.

“He’s probably been here in one way or another for the vast majority of this place’s nearly 80-year history,” said Andy Hayes, Oliver’s Mount Racing Managing Director.

“Tony really is the voice of Oliver’s Mount and he’s gone on until the point where he can’t quite make it up the commentary steps anymore,” Hayes continued. “He’s helped make Oliver’s Mount what it is and had been over the decades. He’s been here through all the highs and lows.

“He could tell you so much about pretty much everyone who’s ever raced here. Whenever you hear his voice, you just think of Oliver’s Mount.”
