Yorkshire motorcyclist undertakes 5000-mile charity ride to raise money for men's mental health

A motorcyclist has set out on a 5000-mile charity ride with a twist, aiming to ride around the entire UK coastline while relying on the goodwill of others to pay for his food, fuel and accommodation – all with the intention of getting men talking about their mental health.

Yorkshire based Josh Richardson has so far raised over £36,000 for men’s suicide prevention charity, Andy’s Man Club. Richardson was inspired to undertake the challenge aboard his KTM 1290 Super Duke GT earlier this year after a close family encounter with suicide.

Josh’s wife, Lucy Richardson, said: “At the beginning of the year he came up with this wild idea to ride around the whole coastline. He knows the impact poor mental health can have on people. When he found Andy’s Man Club, he decided they were the charity to support.

“There’s a great community behind him and everybody has been so onboard. Everywhere he’s stopped, he’s spoken to so many men who have ended up opening up about their own mental health.

“As daft as it sounds, my children and I refer to him as a superhero because he really is changing lives.”

Richardson will finish his adventure tomorrow (September 19) when, following a 5.30pm meet-up in Hornsea, he will ride back into Withernsea alongside a planned convoy of bikers.
