Marco Bezzecchi one-off leathers raise thousands for Italian children’s charity in online auction

An online auction giving MotoGP fans the chance to win a one-off custom pair of Dainese leathers designed by Marco Bezzecchi has raised €11,350 (around £9750) for a children’s charity.

The Italian rider is a multiple MotoGP race winner and currently rides a Ducati for Valentino Rossi’s Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team and sits 11th in the championship standings.

He created the suit in collaboration with New York designer Dan Connor and later put them through their paces aboard a Ducati Panigale V4 in Misano. They were then listed online as an exclusive opportunity for one lucky (and well-heeled) collector.

Ending on Sunday, September 15, the eBay listing was viewed by thousands of fans, with all of the funds going to Italian good cause, Associazione Riminese Oncoematologia Pediatrica – who look after children and their families when battling with oncohematological diseases.

“I’ve chosen to support AROP because I firmly believe in their mission,” Bezzecchi said. “They do extraordinary work in improving the quality of life for young cancer patients and their families.

“The Demone GP Custom Works suit that I made for Dainese is a one-of-a-kind item, and it’s a way to involve my fans in something bigger than our sport as well and raise awareness among as many people as possible about supporting a cause that is so important to me.”

The air bag ready one-piece garment features both VR46 and Dainese New York logos, as well as Bez’s own logos and licks of red and chrome.

The winner was a special guest of the VR46 team at the Misano Grand Prix in late September, receiving the suit from Bezzecchi himself.
