Big fine for 183mph biker

A South African motorcyclist has been fined R102000 (£7371.10) after he was caught speeding at 183mph in KwaZulu-Natal. The fine was also set by magistrates for the rider, jan Hendrick, not displaying number plates and riding an unlicensed motorbike. He’ll only have to pay R50000 at the moment, but if he commits a similar crime int he next five years, the balance of the fine will then be due.

Police refer bike crash to IPCC

Kent Police has voluntarily referred a bike crash involving a police car to the Independent Police Complaints Commission. The crash happened on Sunday May 6 in Longfield causing serious injuries to the rider and life-threatening injuries. The crash has been referred to the IPCC due to a police car’s proximity to the bike.

Bike crash details sent to IPCC

The details of a crash where a bike being followed by police collided with a car has been voluntarily referred to the IPCC. The bike was seen riding erratically by police in Fallowfield on May 2, and was followed by police until the bike collided with a car on mini-roundabout, which then hit another car. The motorcyclist was in stable in condition in Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Theft warning to Surrey bikers

Bike owners in Surrey are being warned to keep their motorcycles secure after a spate of thefts in the borough of Spelthorne. Thefts in the area during April rose by 84.6% compared to March, with 24 bikes being reported as stolen. Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with several bike and moped thefts.
