Suzuki issue V-Strom 800DE recall due to rear tyre defect | Owners told to 'cease riding activity'

Suzuki V-Strom 800DE owners in the UK are being told to stop riding them immediately if they still have the OE tyres fitted. A defect with the Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour OE rear tyre means that a recall has been issued today – Friday, July 26 – potentially affecting 304 bikes in the UK.

“Customer safety and satisfaction is Suzuki GB’s utmost priority,” said a statement from Suzuki GB. “Owners of affected units will be contacted from today and directed to cease riding activity until replacement tyres have been fitted by an authorised Suzuki dealership.”

If you own a Suzuki V-Strom 800DE and you’ve already replaced the tyres, Suzuki say they will reimburse you for the cost of the tyres and the fitting.

The recall has also meant pausing any new registrations while the issue is addressed and so customers waiting on a new bike may to have to wait longer than they thought. But Suzuki say they will offer courtesy bikes while the work is carried out.

Suzuki say the V-Strom 1050DE is unaffected. Customers with any further questions are invited to contact Suzuki GB customer services on: 08085 011959 or email customer services
