Local bikers rally around family run workshop to support MoT station expansion with financial backing

Chichester based Mono Motorcycles have recently experienced first-hand the impact of kindness and support within the biking community.

The husband and wife run business, which employs two workers, started back in 2017, but quickly outgrew the single garage they were working from and graduated to a larger premises just one year later.

Despite the larger workspace, more room was needed to create the couple’s vision and when the unit next-door became available, the team took the decision to expand.

After starting a GoFundMe page earlier this year to support their dream of opening a fully equipped, MoT testing capable facility, the company was able to raise £2000. It was then that a long-standing customer chipped in another £10,000 in the form of an interest-free loan after receiving an inheritance payment.

This allowed the business, who this year also became an official CCM service and repair centre, to purchase the necessary equipment to realise their dream – with further donations and personal savings going to cover the remaining money needed for training and other costs.

With everything now complete, Mono recently opened their doors to customers, marking the occasion with a ceremony to celebrate their benefactors on July 28.

“It’s been a real community effort,” said Katy Morris, joint owner of Mono Motorcycles. “It’s really touched us as a business. The belief our customers and followers have in us to fund something so big is incredible.

“This is a perfect example of community spirit. It also enabled us to ultimately give something back too, which we’re all about.”
