Enter the Dragster 700 | Italjet's radical new 68bhp twin-cylinder super scooter

Radical Italian scooter specialists, Italjet have launched their biggest, maddest, and fastest offering yet – a 68.4bhp, twin cylinder Dragster 700.

Aiming squarely at the likes of Yamaha’s TMAX 560 and Honda’s Forza 750 – but with a sportier, motorcycle inspired edge – the full bike will be revealed at this November’s Eicma trade show in Milan. It follows hard on the heels of the sensational twin cylinder Dragster 500GP and 559 concepts unveiled in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

Alongside producing almost 70bhp, the parallel twin two-pot motor will also be paired to a one down, five up six-speed transmission – setting it apart from the competition.

On top of this, there’s also top spec cycle parts including Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes, with Italjet saying it ‘combines the soul of a superbike with the comfort and agility of a hyperscooter.’

Despite being the star of the Italjet stand at Eicma, a Limited Factory Edition version officially went on sale online on Friday, July 12. It will remain available until the last day of the Milan show, or earlier if all 700 units sell out faster.

Like the preceding 500 and 559 concepts, the 700 is powered by a Benelli-derived, liquid-cooled, four-stroke twin with double overhead camshafts and four-valves per cylinder.

Peak power is achieved at 8500rpm with 51.7lb.ft of torque driven to the rear wheel via a chain drive. That power figure significantly up on the likes of Yamaha’s 47bhp TMAX 560 and Honda’s 58bhp Forza 750, however these options are both likely to present more practicality and dealer backup.

Elsewhere, the Dragster 700 gets an under seat exhaust, suspension comprising Marzocchi USD forks, 15-inch wheels and twin front disc brakes. There’s also an Öhlins steering damper, and adjustable rear shock.

The special edition features black/gold livery, an Akrapovič exhaust, and Brembo brake calipers.

Of course, all of that doesn’t come cheap. the Limited Factory Edition is priced at €14,900 (about £12,600). The standard version will cost around €12,900 (£10,900) and will be available next spring/summer when A2 versions are also planned.
