Sky-high charity prize | Air ambulance fundraiser offers a flight in historic chopper

An air ambulance is offering fundraisers who take part in a bike challenge the chance to win a ride in an historic Royal Navy helicopter.

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT) have just launched their ‘I did it my way’ fundraising challenge inviting riders to embark on motorcycle journeys throughout August to raise money.

The highest fundraiser will win a flight in an historic 1960s Westland Wasp helicopter. Registrations for the event are now open and the first 1000 (including pillions) will receive a limited-edition ‘I did it my way 2024’ embroidered patch.

Participants choose their own routes, individually or in groups, and are encouraged to explore favourite roads, visit landmarks, or ride in memory of loved ones.

Then, following the conclusion of the challenge, participants and supporters are invited to join EHAAT at a special motorcycle show and fun day at North Weald airbase on September 8.

This free event will include live bands including Faux Fighters, a police dog display, stunt show, and a Vmoto electric bike raffle. There’s the chance to win tickets to British Superbikes Brands Hatch, Virgin Experience Day vouchers and more, with dealer displays, food and drink, and more on offer.

Pam Withrington, Fundraising & Marketing Director, told MCN: “This fundraiser provides our loyal biker enthusiasts with the opportunity to support their local life-saving air ambulance service while enjoying the freedom of the open road. Every mile ridden and every pound raised will directly contribute to our life-saving mission, ensuring that we can continue to provide critical care.”

Registration costs £10. Head to the EHAAT website to join.
