GasGas MC85 motocross bike offers off-road thrills for the next generation of racers

Resurgent off-road motorcycle brand GasGas, who are now owned by Austria’s Pierer Mobility Group are continuing their comeback with this – a virtually all-new 85cc motocrosser aimed at budding 11-15-year-old racers.

Called the MC85, the single-cylinder two-stroke has undergone an almost total makeover which includes an all-new frame, updated engine, new rear shock, and fresh all-red bodywork.

The result, the firm claims, is “a super-fun dirt bike that’s easy to ride fast for guaranteed good times!”

The new frame has been designed to make the bike easier to ride and is said to improve stability whilst creating a lighter feel through turns. Meanwhile, the engine has a new cylinder head, ignition, exhaust, spark plug, air box, and Keihn carb settings for greater low to mid-range power and torque.

You’ll also find a new WP XACT shock with a new mounting point and slightly reduced travel – something that’s hoped to improve traction on the dirt.

A new swingarm shaves 300 grams and there’s new footpegs for a surer footing.

There are also new radiators, by PANKL, to keep the motor running cool, the motor has been repositioned in the frame to aid balance and the side panels are slimmer than before as well to make it easier to move around.

As with the predecessor, two versions are available one with 17”/14” wheels for smaller riders and another with 19”/16” wheels for larger ones. It’s available now priced £6399.
