Centennial celebrations | BMW achieve highest ever sales figures on 100 year anniversary
BMW Motorrad helped celebrate their 100-year anniversary by achieving record sales across 2023.
The Bavarian manufacturer delivered 209,257 motorcycles and scooters to customers globally last year, marking the highest ever figures achieved in the company’s history and an impressive 3.1% higher than the previous year.

Whilst numbers were up across the board, Europe, Asia and Latin America were the hottest markets.
Europe as a whole remained by far the strongest performer. Eastern Europe in particular achieved flourishing figures with 6000 units sold in the region, more than double the number sold in the region in 2022.

Head of BMW Motorrad, Markus Flasch, praised the support of their customers across the globe, going on to express an optimistic outlook for the brand’s future.
“I am very confident about the year 2024,” he said. “With numerous new, innovative models and products for our customers, we at BMW Motorrad will do everything in our power to build on this record year”.

Entering 2024 with an enriched lineup including the adventure staple R1300GS, retro roadster R 12 nineT and cruiser inspired R12, there is certainly scope for further growth.
Unsurprisingly the uber popular GS models were strong drivers of the year’s performance with the boxer twin R1250GS and GS Adventure being responsible for around 56,000 sales.

BMW’s latest adventure addition, the R1300GS, contributed a further 4528 units sold following its strong autumn release.
BMW’s resident superbike, the S1000RR experienced a 13.9% bump in sales also – perhaps suggesting a market resurgence in the class.

It was the brands commuter ready, sustainable scoot, the electric CE 04 that stood head and shoulders above the rest however, with a whopping 44% increase in units delivered to customers following its 2022 introduction.
