Worldwide, Royal Enfield sold a staggering 110,574 motorcycles in October 2024 (almost double Ducati’s yearly output for 2023).

It’s a figure which represents the highest ever in the company’s history, and is a healthy 31% up over the same period in the previous year.

From the start of 2024 through to October, a total of 565,353 bikes were sold of which 52,624 were exported – representing an increase of 21%.

This has been bought on by some exciting new models focused on the global middleweight segment and also an increase in production facilities.

Although the core of Enfield’s production facilities are located at Oragadam and Vallam Vadagal near Chennai, India, they also have five Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly facilities in Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Bangladesh and Nepal with a new CKD facility just opening up in Thailand, bringing the number up to six.

CKD is when a product is built, disassembled and them reassembled at its destination and is generally used to save on tax in the destination country, helping keep the cost of the final product down.

Enfield’s new Thai plant, which is located at Samut Prakan province in Bangkok and has the capability to make 30,000 bikes a year, is the firm’s first in the region and will give them even greater access to the lucrative Asia-Pacific markets, which lap-up the mid-sized bikes Enfield are focused on making.

“Our strategic intent is to have an international expansion strategy of investing in markets with huge potential to grow. Thailand assembly plant caters to this vision,” CEO, B. Govindarajan said.

Out of the 110,574 motorcycles sold in October, the vast majority (101,886 or 92%) were destined for Enfield’s domestic market (India) while the remaining 8688 were exported.

Initially this may appear disappointing, however this figure is up a massive 150% on the same period last year, when Enfield only exported 3477 bikes.
