Red Bull’s inaugural Tyne Ride event drew big crowds to Newcastle’s Quayside on August 3 as thousands turned out to catch the urban enduro action.

The free to watch event pitched 14 professionals and eight wild card contenders against the first of its kind course.

Following a morning of qualifiers, spectators were treated to several rounds of racing including an exciting head-to-head final, with the action kicking off at 13:30.

Enduro legend Jonny Walker ultimately bested the competition aboard his Beta 300 RR, facing off in the final heat against fellow British rider Mitch Brightmore to take the overall win.

The event was the collaborative brainchild of four-time SuperEnduro World Champion, Billy Bolt and fellow Red Bull athletes Dougie Lampkin and Jonny Walker.

Following a recent injury, it was unclear whether Bolt would compete on the weekend. However, the local lad managed to attend, only to be knocked out of the competition in the first round by Polish enduro champ, Taddy Blazusiak, riding a Stark Varg electric bike
